Sole & Luna and its upstairs apartment, Il Nido (also rentable), make for an interesting and very private Italian holiday rental. With a heavenly motif ("Sun" and "Moon") that is lightly referred to in its interior details, these rentals are part of an historic Italian landmark titled "Fornace," or "Furnace."Sole & Luna comfortably sleep 4 adults (two couples and perfectly roomy for one couple) and Nido, located above Sole & Luna and accessible via a small ramp from the garden below, is a studio rental with bathroom and kitchenette which comfortably sleeps two. This holiday home is perfect for a couple with two kids that do not need supervision and would relish being away from the parents at night (teenagers?). And the reverse is perfectly suitable as well, a couple treating their parents to a holiday in Italy (birthday present?) and looking for a little privacy at night.

Sole & Luna and Il Nido, located just 5 kilometers from the Chianti Classico village of Vagliagli, is part of a converted 15th century terra cotta forming and firing home . The main residence, where the owners currently reside, once witnessed Italian craftsman forming the tiles and bricks by hand and firing them in the enormous furnace that is still preserved within the owner's residence. After firing, the earthen tiles were brought to the cooling/storage house before shipment. Both apartments come with a swimming pool (shared with the owner), designed with water fall, sitting Buddha, manicured law and views of distant hills and valleys. We would like to repeat this - the views are very impressive and the privacy uncompromised. Renting both apartments provide a perfect combination for an enchanting stay in antiquity.

The owner's Piero and Rosalba Giadrossi, tastes in design and aesthetic match their experiences in many cultures both east and west. Years of traveling, experience in design and that intuitive Italian aesthetic have provided Piero and Rosalba with a refreshing refinement which is evident in this villa / apartment . It's polished wood floors, stylized fireplace, iron framed beds, comfortable seating, lighting and appliances throughout.....the owners have spared no expense in expressing their artistry and providing both comfort and a unique experience for their guests.

It is a spacious room, impeccably planned optimizing space and function an carrying the same call to aesthetics as Sole e Luna below. A small square wooden table with accompanying chairs, sofa bed and unique kitchenette/armoire (a most ingenious design) provides all a couple would need.

How to get to La Fornace :

Milan-Rome Highway: Firenze Certosa Exit.
Superstrada to Siena: Siena Nord Exit.
Left onto SS222, towards Castellina and then take a right turn after 1.5 towards Vagliagli.
Drive for about 8 km. and then turn right towards PIEVASCIATA. It is a country road and you will find La Fornace at your left after about 4 km.
